Management Committee

Lynne Powrie (Chair) – CEO Carers Bromley
Lynne is currently CEO of Carers Bromley and has been since 2007. She held senior management positions before this. Her background is in psychology and mental health. She is a trained counsellor and counselled service users and carers at a centre for those affected by HIV and AIDS, sparking an interest in carers issues. She also ran a private practice and counselled patients in various health settings.
She spent 7 years volunteering as a Samaritan, undertaking diverse roles. She joined the prison training team and, for a number of years, trained inmates in HMP Belmarsh to ‘listen’ to other inmates who were in crisis. She then became London Region Prison Coordinator for the Samaritans.
In her CEO role, in 2009, she was elected as the London Region representative on the UK Partnership Council of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers and was elected Vice Chairman. The Princess Royal Trust for Carers merged with Crossroads Care in 2012 and developed new structures in order to create an informed organisation shaped by its network partners. Lynne was re-elected as the London Region representative and was then elected to chair the England Committee. Through this mechanism, she was then elected to the UK Partnership Forum and was elected to chair that too in April 2013. This role has conferred her with a seat on Carers Trust Board.
Lynne is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the London Carers Centre Consortium (Novus). This consortium is comprised of 19 carers centres across London, whose aims are to identify income opportunities for participating carers centres.
Before she stopped working to raise her three sons, she was a librarian and began her collection of unusual names. Lynne has a strong interest in music and singing and plays the violin.
